
Rwanda and DRC’s Post – Peace Deal Mineral Supply Chain Reforms
Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are set to collaborate with third parties, including the US, to overhaul their mineral supply chains and implement reforms. This commitment is outlined in a draft economic framework, part of a peace deal reached in Washington. A source familiar with the matter revealed that the two countries have agreed on this draft, which is currently under discussion among stakeholders such as the private sector, multilateral banks, and some donor agencies of other countries.
The 17 – page framework follows the June peace deal brokered by the US President Donald Trump’s administration. The deal aims to end the long – standing conflict that has claimed thousands of lives and attract Western investment to the resource – rich region.
