中国海油12月24日宣布，中国渤海海域新近系浅层再获亿吨级大发现——秦皇岛29-6油田。这是中国第一大原油生产基地渤海油田自2019年以来连续发现的第7个亿吨级油田，进一步夯实中国海上油气资源储量，对保障国家能源安全具有重要意义。秦皇岛29-6油田位于渤海中部海域，是该海域近年继秦皇岛27-3油田后又一个亿吨级岩性油田，经测试单井日产原油约370吨，勘探前景较好。
中国海油相关负责人表示，公司加强新近系浅层斜坡带油气运聚模式及技术创新并获 ..000万吨创历史新高。今年以来，油田全面加强产能建设，推动“优智”钻完井和工程标准化迭代升级，多个新项目快速投产，老油田贡献年产原油超3200万吨；同时加快技术创新，系统推进数智转型，攻坚复杂油气开发，海上规模化稠油热采技术体系支撑热采年产原油超200万吨。
