日本钢铁联合会（JISF）主席兼新日铁总裁今井正志表示，日本钢铁行业正面临美国关税政策带来的新压力，该政策“阻碍钢铁贸易流动”，并对日本出口导向型钢铁行业产生“重大”影响。今井正志警告称，下一财年（2026年4月1日开始的2026-27财年）日本钢铁行业的环境预计与当前时期大致不变，钢铁需求恢复将需要更多时间。
日本经济产业省（METI）也对2026年1月至3Ɯ..制造业尚未出现有意义的复苏。METI预测该季度钢铁总需求为1860万吨，同比下降1.6%，粗钢产量为2005万吨。
