美国东部电网系统独立监管机构Monitoring Analytics周四发布季度报告，建议接入美国电网的大型数据中心自备发电设施。Monitoring Analytics由PJM于2008年设立，作为外部市场监控机构。而PJM乃美国东部互联电网一部分，也是美国最大电网公司，为13个州供电，其中不乏数据中心密集的俄亥俄州与弗吉尼亚州等地。
早在一个月前，PJM便已发出警告，称电网无力为新数据中心供电，建议开发商自建发电厂。Monitoring Analytics报告表明，PJM当前容量供应无法满足大型数据中心用电需求，且短期内难有改观。若不及时解决，PJM其他客户将承担高昂成本。
