日前，五十铃汽车与丰田汽车宣告合作规划，双方将携手开展氢燃料电池公共汽车的联合研发工作，生产则交由合资公司负责。
这款新车以五十铃2024年即将推出的Erga EV电动公共汽车为蓝本打造。丰田汽车提供燃料电池系统，其中包含专为商用车研发的储氢罐。计划在2026财年（2026年4月 – 2027年3月）开启生产。
该车由五十铃与丰田子公司日野汽车共同组建的合资公司J – Bus负责制造，双方在合资公司各占50%股份，生产地点为J – Bus位于东京北部的宇都宫工厂。通过与Erga EV共享零部件，能够有效降低制造成本。
实际上，自2022年起，五十铃、丰田与日野就已开启氢燃料电池公共汽车的研发探索。丰田在氢燃料商用车领域处于领先，2018年推出日本首款量产氢燃料电池公共汽车Sora并投入销售。
